If while scrolling down the annual list compiled by Forbes magazine it is not surprising to see that Microsoft’s founder Bill Gates regained the title of the richest man in the world, curiosity is aroused that the first Italian classified is Michele Ferrero.

The Ferrero family built its empire on chocolate. Its best-known product, Nutella, has become an icon all over the world.

Through taste, touch and smell, wine transmits the beauty and harmony of the territory in which it was produced.  Like music.  It is no coincidence that many internationally famous singers – Peter Gabriel, Sting, Mick Hucknall and Jim Kerr, to name just a few – have chosen to make wine in Italy, looking for the authenticity that only direct contact with nature and tradition can provide.

The success of the Italian wine industry is born on the back of their ancestry, which is rooted in over 2,000 years of wine making excellence. The climate found in Italy is deemed to be perfect for the production of wine; from Sardinian wine to the famous Tuscany wine.

There has always been one driving force behind making wine for Italians; to partner their fine cuisine with an enriching taste while not taking away from the food. There are 20 wine regions, each with its own climatic characteristics that fuse with the wines made there.

Città della Pieve is a small village in Umbria, in the province of Perugia. It is very near the border between Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio, and surrounded by some of the most beautiful places of these three regions: the Tuscan cities of Montepulciano and Cetona, Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, Lake Bolsena and the city of Viterbo in Lazio.Città della Pieve

Città della Pieve is a medieval village, ringed by fourteenth century walls, featuring beautiful exposed brickwork. It is said to have the narrowest alleyway in Italy, Via Baciadonne, and is famous for being the birthplace of Pietro Vannucci, called Il Perugino, considered to be the highest exponent of Umbrian art in the XV century.
