We had an amazing experience staying at Villa Petrea. Our travel agent was a huge help finding the right place for my large family to stay in Tuscany. We had a last minute cancellation, and she worked around the clock to find the perfect alternative for us. She has been to many of the villa’s personally, so she knows the area well and understood our needs and how to meet them.

We had a group of 14 people stay here, and even with such a large group we never felt like we were on top of one another. Each bedroom had an en suite bathroom and there was space for us all to relax without feeling crowded. My elderly mother can’t walk stairs well and it was quite difficult to find a villa that had a ground floor bedroom. Villa Petrea was perfect! There were only 2 steps down into her bedroom, and one small step in the house. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked for a rental. There is even a wood burning bbq in the backyard. The only small complaint we had was the A/C was not great in the bedrooms, and during the August heatwave, it barely did anything to help. But overall the villa was gorgeous, comfortable, and spacious. We enjoyed wonderful day trips to Siena, San Gimignano, Montevarchi, Arezzo and Florence of course! After long days walking in the heat and over cobblestones the hot tub and sauna room were amazing. We enjoyed many a sunset looking out at the view from the hot tub! The owner was an enormous help! He gives great advice for outings and even found us one day when we were lost going into town and led us to the shop we were looking for! He was an excellent host, never intrusive but always there when you needed help or had a question. I would highly recommend this beautiful villa and I hope to return one day myself.

We had an absolutely marvelous vacation, and our week at the lovely Villa Petrea was all that we expected and more. The property is gorgeous, and it combines a secluded setting with proximity (an easy walk!) to the town of Buccine. We visited this delightful town several times and enjoyed some terrific gelato (along with other good snacks) at local spots. The residents were very friendly and helpful whenever we asked for directions or assistance. We were especially pleased that Buccine has a train station that facilitated our travels to and from Florence.
The villa is spacious, and our party of 7 had ample room to gather and eek separate space as needed. We enjoyed the pool, and the kitchen is excellent. Having an ice maker is a real plus! As others have noted, Maria is a gem. She was a joy to be around and prepared excellent dinners for us on several of our nights at the villa. Four group members took a cooking class with her, and they loved it!
The villa’s setting is beautiful, with sweeping views of the Tuscany countryside and its hills. We sat on the balcony every evening that we were there to enjoy the sunsets. The ground floor porch and second floor balconies are both large, offering great space for group gatherings or morning coffee.
We would recommend Villa Petrea highly, particularly for a group that wants to both get away from it all yet be close to a town and have access to trains. I found Villa in Italia to be an excellent planning partner. Everything was clear, and all was as advertised. Alessandra, you were wonderful! You responded quickly to my many emails and provided excellent advice and guidance throughout our planning. We have rented residences elsewhere in Europe, and your service was as good or better than other companies with which we have dealt There were no surprises, which is always appreciated.

We are a family of 18 Icelanders. The youngest was born in June this year and the oldest turns 80 later this year. This place has been great for everyone and no one is really ready to leave after a great week. The weather has been great, especially for us Icelanders because we mostly get cold weather and wind in our country. It’s been a wonderful week of family, food and wine. Thank you!

What an incredible week at Villa Petrea! we were a family of 16 people and the villa was perfect to welcome us.
We enjoyed a lot the swimming pool and the spa, Turkish bath. Everything was here to make us happy.

We came here as a family of 16 – 1 year after losing our patriarch – my madre arranged this trip as a healing process for us all. It was way more than we expected – we laughed, we cried, but mostly we were able just to reconnect as a family after losing our papa. My mother very special is helping with this once in a lifetime experience – Fabuloso. Perfect. As a family we cannot tell you how much we loved your home.

The villa is located very scenic, is easy to find, well connected to the transportation infrastructure and practically for daytrips to Arezzo, Siena, Firenze and for visiting all the nice villages in Tuscany. Also the cooking service we recommend to other visitors. The villa is perfect for a group of 12 or 14 people who know each other well. Especially the dining room was really great. We all loved sitting there, eating, drinking, chatting and having fun.

We had a wonderful time at the villa, it was prettier than the pictures can show. The owners could not have been nicer. My group loved it as well and we felt special being able to stay in such a nice surrounding. I think that we will be using this property again in the future as we all loved it and we are now familiar with its location and the surrounding area for shopping and getting around.

I wanted to let you know that we very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Petrea. The villa itself is beautiful, and the owners were very gracious. The villa's location is wonderful--off the beaten path, but close to many of the region's beautiful towns. The local chef that we hired through the owners was wonderful as well. She barely blinked when our guest list for dinner one night grew from 20 to 31 people. We could not have asked for a better vacation. We hope that we'll be able to repeat it someday soon.

All of us had a wonderful time at Villa Petrea. We enjoyed the villa and the pool very much; the rooms were comfortable and we all had very pleasant evenings on the loggia and in the dining room. We particularly enjoyed the two delicious meals that Maria cooked for us at the villa.

For all of us, the villa itself was more than we ever expected. We were completely satisfied by the rooms, kitchen, espresso maker, pool, location, views, ability to get the train close to the villa, etc.

We LOVED the villa and our perfect holiday in Italy. I dreamed of it for weeks after I got home. We loved the food, the village, the people, the wine, the hill towns, the hikes, the musical events, the restaurants, the market on Wednesdays in Bucine, the evenings spent talking about the day's adventures. Italy welcomed us with open arms and we will never forget it. One of our most wonderful days was spent at a local winery across the road...Le Vincaie...the lovely owners invited us for a tour of the winery, took us to Rapalo and Sogna to see the local towns, and fed us a sumptuous outdoor meal of rabbit, chicken, pork, rigatoni, fagioli, cantucinni, vin santo, and lots and lots of kindness.

Thank you for following up with us. I wrote a comment in the villa journal also regarding our visit.

We had a great time in Italy. The house was beautiful. The owners were very nice hosts. We especially enjoyed the Tuscan home cooking from the chef.

We had a fabulous time. The villa was in a quiet country area and we could walk into Bucine for cappuccino. The bedrooms were quiet and the bathrooms had every amenity. It's definitely a villa we all plan to revisit, perhaps with our families. The set up of the villa was perfect with the patios, 3 living areas, 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. The chef, were wonderful. Good chefs, good teachers and fun. We ate quite well after cooking! I can't say enough about how much the group of us enjoyed the villa and the area. Owner was most accommodating. The villa and its setting (high on a hill surrounded by vineyards) was just what one pictures when you picture Tuscany. The villa was well-furnished and clean thus making our stay even more wonderful. Another pleasant surprise was being close to the town of Bucine, which made using the train system to visit numerous cities (north and south) very convenient. All six of us love the place and would highly recommend it to anyone!
