The little village of Nerano above the villa was very quiet, non touristy place. Some of my family wanted to go to mass on Sunday and they went to the Church in the village. There were some small shops in the village. Parking was a little bit of challenge.
We spent a lot of time at Marina del Cantone which is beautiful. The restaurants along the beach were very good. We were able to pick up pizzas and bring it back to the villa. There was also a couple places to get gelato. It’s a small area and the restaurants have similar menus. The prices varied at the restaurants but most were very reasonable. We visited the small clothing store the marina a few times. There is also a small convenience store that we purchased food and wine from every day. The residents/employees in the area were very nice. The area was never too busy or overcrowded with tourists. It felt very safe and was very quiet in the evening. The Nerano/Marina del Cantone is a very good place to visit with families.
One day we took the private boat tour to Capri, another day we took the group tour to Positano and Amalfi and that was great as well. Most of my family members did the hike to the Baia Ieranto and enjoyed it. It was a bit hard but well worth it. My family members also did the Chasing Syrens kayaking trip in the Marina del Cantone and had a lot of fun. We took the city bus to Sorrento -- It was 1.60 euros one way. We were picked the bus up at Marina del Cantone and it dropped us off on Sorrento. On the way over we had to transfer buses at Sant Agata dui Golfi and the next bus came right away. On the way home we did not have to transfer. My mother often took the bus from Marina del Cantone a few times and would get off at the stop near the villa.
The Villa is beautiful and the owner was very helpful. The villa is very spacious. There are other villas around you but it still felt very private. We would walk back and forth to Marina del Cantone several times a day. The hill coming back was a little steep but manageable. It was a good walk. We found a path that shortened the trip so we did not have to always walk along the road. The views from the villa are incredible. There were a lot of full windows and terraces. The villa has a lot of modern appliances and features. The pool was very nice and kids had a lot of fun swimming there. We rented one small car and it that was good to have on hand. We drove to some of the other villages in the area and the grocery store. You could do without a car and rely on the buses which seemed reliable but it was very helpful to have it. We were able to park it at the end of the private road, not too far from the Villa at all.
There is a private beach that the Olga Residence hotel uses and we were able to use. It is off to the side of the Marina and a small hike to get there. Once you go through the gate, you need to take a series of steps down to the platform where there are chair. It’s not ideal for swimming but it is a nice quiet location on the water where you can get some sun, read, and watch the boats come in.
Ville In Italia manager was so helpful. I sent him so many emails, so many questions and he answered each one. I really appreciate his help.
I would love to go back and stay there again. it was just a really a wonderful place.
Thank you again!
