This was a trip which was originally planned for this This trip was originally scheduled for June 2020, postponed due to Covid. Boy was it worth the wait!
We had a party of 15, immediate family and close friends, to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. Judging from the pictures of the Villa on the website, our hopes were high but you never know until you get there and see it in person. Honestly, our wildest hopes and expectations were greatly exceeded! The Villa is situated in an ideal location just down the road from the charming town of Amalfi.
The house itself is an older structure, with all the charm and architecture that you would expect of a Mediterranean Villa. However it has been extensively remodeled interiorly, with all the comforts and amenities that you would expect from a high-level rental. The house consists of four levels. The top three levels contain eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and individually controlled air-conditioning. Each bedroom has a wonderful Mediterranean view. The lowest level contains a large indoor/outdoor kitchen and large table which could seat more than 20 persons. There is also a sitting area with comfortable chairs and couches. The kitchen was our favorite indoor area to congregate as a group. The kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary utensils and cooking appliances, and we cooked two of our own dinners during the week. There is also a wood fireplace for grilling. Finally, the house has a large rooftop terrace with tables and chairs, perfect for enjoying the comfortable Mediterranean evenings, as well as to appreciate sunrise and sunsets.
Heading down from the house towards the sea are three terraced levels, as well as sea access. The outdoor areas include a terrace canopied by lemon trees which would be perfect for a small outdoor wedding. Another terrace contains a lawn begging for a game of bocce ball. Other outdoor areas contain a small swim spa, another small outdoor kitchen area with refrigerator, a small sauna, and a separate free standing restroom. Down at the sea level are two swimming docks, one of which has a ladder down into the water. There is also and adjacent sunbathing area with lounge chaises.
The owner of the Villa met us on arrival, and gave us a full tour with detailed explanations of how to utilize and operate everything we needed during our stay. He made us feel immediately right at home, and was available all week if needed. The owner also arranged for a welcome dinner for the evening of our arrival, with a professional pizza chef. This was at an additional cost, but well well worth it! There was also house cleaning and garden service several times during the week.
Overall we had a fabulous week at the Villa! Our only regret is that we didn’t spend more time just enjoying the Villa. For most of us it was our first extended stay in Amalfi, so we wanted to get out and see and experience all the area had to offer. However, that gives us added incentive to return to the villa, which I hope we will be able to do in the future!
