The villa was more than I expected. It was really one of a kind and so memorable. The downside of the villa is that the location is challenging and I don’t recommend it for anyone who can’t walk 340 steep steps. I am 55 and in fair shape and I found the trek to the villa to be challenging whereby I had to stop many times in my journey to catch my breath. There are no roads to reach the villa, just stairs. The villa hires very strong Italian men to help with the luggage so all we needed to do is to worry about was getting ourselves to the property. But the challenging stairs are not to be overlooked.

On the positive side, the villa is large, beds are comfortable, views are like no other, and overall property was well maintained. The staff was exceptional. Our cook was fabulous and really understood my daughter’s gluten allergy and was extremely accommodating in making her meal gluten free. We always had a gluten free cake available for a snack all day long. Although I had dinner reservations scheduled for every night, we decided to stay at the villa for dinner because dinners there were that good!! The cook had an assistant who decorated the table like it was a piece of art at each meal. I had to take pictures before our family sat for dinner so I could remember how beautiful the table looked.
The villa has an interesting history. There was an article in The NY Times about the villa in 2010. It was originally owned by a Bishop and built in 1716. The current owners restored it and decorated it in the period of when it was built. A few celebrities have stayed at the villa including Picasso, John Steinbeck, Justin Timberlake and Madonna. I only discovered this information after I arrived by googling the villa’s name. I was desperate to find out more information because it was so amazing.
