Villas in Trapani Area
2 Villas found
The Trapani Area has, throughout history, been a much sought-after portal town, alternately coveted and valued more for the access it grants to other parts of the Mediterranean as for its own indigenous charms. And it is this same factor today that makes it so appealing for an ever-increasing number of travelers, cognizant that Trapani, whilst somewhat modest in terms of its own appeal, presents a gateway to many other tourist hot-spots.
Marsala, largest town in the province of Sicily, is a great example; a stay in one of the newly-developed Marsala villas gives you the chance not just to sample local delights but to spread your wings further. A visit to the Egadi Islands, with their famous beaches and fabulous bays, for example, or scenic passage to Pantelleria, Sardinia, or Tunisia, among others. You can even get about the region by cable-car, for example up to the mountain fortress of Monte Erice.
But don’t forget that the Trapani region has charms aplenty of its own; wine buffs the world over travel here to see the birthplace of Marsala wine, made famous by John Woodhouse in the 18th century. And any who have seen the salt pans in the region silhouetted in spectacular fashion against the setting sun will assure you it is far more romantic than it sounds!
And if you plan on staying during Easter, you will find yourself caught up in one of the most famous (and fervent) religious celebrations in all of Sicily; the week long Misteri di Trapani, or the Procession of the Mysteries of Trapani.^ Back to top
