**This is a private, independent villa, but prices and surface area change according to the number of people.
|"We would lounge with our Campari & Soda on our immaculately cared for lawn, under the shade of a protective tarp, perched above Praiano looking out onto Positano and Capri. Later would move to one of the two covered terraces for a late dinner. Magical to say the least; but not without effort.
This large villa known as Terramare has two floors. The top floor has 3 bedrooms with full/double beds and private bathrooms. It also has a "guest" powder room with a washer. There is a small kitchen/ living room. There's a definite Ikea vibe at work which fits well with the nautical feel of the place. This top floor opens to a terrace and lawn (with outdoor shower).
There's an outdoor stairway that leads to the "apartment" below with a a bathroom (with washer) small kitchen and bedroom with full/double bed. All the bedrooms are air conditioned but the lower one seems to have some trouble getting really cool. But I found it comfortable enough.
Alessandro, one of the family members who owns the house met us at the bus stop in Praiano and helped us get out luggage to the villa. It's worth repeating here that the Amalfi Coast and most of the towns including Praiano are not for the faint of heart; literally! There are a lot of steps here. More later. Alessandro was extremely helpful in explaining how everything worked, the interesting garbage recycling schedule and how and where to get what we needed. Later in the week he also called us to let us know about a temporary strike by some of the buses and trains so that we would not get stranded. He was very thoughtful and helpful.
Tips / Cautions:
We got to Amalfi the old fashioned way... train to Naples (FrecciaRossa 1st class) and then the Circumvesuviana Train on the lower level of the Naples train station. Once you reach Sorrento if you need to use the bathroom do so before your exit the train station turnstiles. There are no other bathrooms. Buy your ticket at the tobacco store and the bus is across the street from the station. You wait against the wall.
We booked through VilleinItalie and forgot to print our "voucher" for the villa. They had a Saturday phone number we called and they took care of contacting the owner to let him know everything was ok and to arrange for us to meet. Alessandro picked us up at the bus stop in Praiano and helped with the luggage by car.
Make life easier and registration faster bring a photocopy of each person's passport photo page to give the owner.
There are 234 steps from the villa down to the "main" road in Praiano where you can actually buy something. Once you are at this road there are several small food markets, butcher shops, fish store, pharmacy, ATM, souvenir shop, tourist info centre, church, restaurants and pizzeria and of course the bus stops that take you on your excursions. These 234 steps are relatively easy going down but for a 50 year old overweight, inactive male, it was a challenge going up. I did it fine, but I would not want to do it more than once a day. The rest of my family 13-45 years old handled the stairs without much notice.
The closest beach, La Gavitella, is another 300 steps down but much, much easier because of long stretches of flat walking where you can catch your breath. It's about 15 minutes down to the beach and 30 minutes back up.
The bus stop you want for this villa off the Sita bus is Bar La Sibilla.
Bring some Gravol if you plan on taking the bus ride from Sorrento or to Amalfi or for other excursions. When you are tired, and it's hot and the bus is loaded, the curves of the road overlooking the sea can quickly turn from scenic to nauseating. Really!
This is southern Italy; some are loud and proud! You can occasionally hear some of the discussions of the neighboring families. It's all part of the local colour.
|"Very nice to hear from you again I was just saying this morning how I would love to go back to Priano
There were 7 of us staying at Terramare and we all thought that Priano was one of the highlights of our 6 week trip. The villa Terramare lived up to our expectations the price was very reasonable, it was beautifully clean and the decor was modern had every thing that we needed the view was to die for, it was so nice to wake up and have the sound of the church bells in the morning it had a real village feel.We loved the restaurants near by and the locals were very helpful with bus time tables and advice on where to eat, we would have liked to stay longer but time did not permit. The owner was very helpful he helped us carry our bags which was quite a distance from where we had to leave the car this was one of the drawbacks the fact that we had to park the car so far away and the stairs were not for the fainthearted there were so many of them. we did a fantastic walk from Nocello to Priano which was one of the most spectacular walks in the world We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Terremare and would not hesitate to reccomend it to anyone wanting to stay in such a beautiful place in the world.
Thanks for reminding me of the lovely time we had in Priano and Terramare.
|"The villa was perfect and exactly as advertised. We had a great time there and had no difficulty finding the local contact who took us to the villa.
|"We were very satisfied with the service we received from Villeinitalia and the villa Terramare was perfect. The view was spectacular, the owner of the house was kind, dependable and honest and the villa itself was in beautiful condition and perfect for 5 adults. The land around the house was well-kept with herbs to use in the salads. It was private with two terraces and the lovely grassland with 180 degree views of the sea. One final note is that the ville itself was quiet and peaceful.
Thank you very much
