overview
villa layout
Bolsena is a delightful little town overlooking the eastern banks of the lake of the same name, on the Via Cassia 100 kms north of Rome, in the province of Viterbo. This part of Italy is full in history and local traditions, and immersed in rich, and largely unpolluted, natural surroundings. The clear waters of Lake Bolsena belong to the largest lake in Europe with volcanic origins.
Antica Posta stands in the town just outside the walls of the castle, and for a long time it was a postal station for the changing of the horses and a resting place for travellers along the Via Cassia.
During the recent renovation it was equipped with the latest modern comforts, whereas the furnishings, original pieces from the beginning of the 1900s, suit the special architecture of the villa.
In the garden next to the villa they have made a private swimming-pool for guests, and on the lawn alongside there is a large gazebo with tables and chairs. In an independent apartment next to the villa live the wardens, who also take care of the cleaning.
The owners have a farm estate close by and produce excellent wines, and you can organize wine-tastings and a visit to the farm. The villa has air-conditioning in the bedrooms, heating, satellite-TV, washing-machine and dishwasher, broadband internet connection.
Bolsena offers lots of recreational opportunities such as sailing, fishing, scuba diving, horse-riding and tennis.
It takes just an hour by car to lots of interesting places such as Montalcino, the sea at Argentario, and Siena and Rome are 140 kms away. The local cuisine is excellent.

Testimonials
"We stayed at this villa in June 2013 unfortunately just for 1 wk, It is a beautiful villa very relaxing and comfortable.
16 adults plus 1 baby, the bedrooms were very spacious and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the weeks stay.
The owners very friendly and hospitable, as was the house keeper and family, we would thoroughly recommend this Villa.

"This is an absolutely amazing property in a perfect location. The pictures don't do it justice. Walking distance to the water and all the awesome local restaurants. The property itself was really spacious and luxurious. The owners were great hosts, taking us on a tour of their home and winery. Our family loved it!"

"We had a lovely time at the Antica posta, the villa was good and the location was just what we wanted with the village so close.
Thanks

"We were a very subdued group when we had to leave Bolsena and Antica Posta. The entire trip was superlative in every way. I cannot imagine dealing with a more helpful and responsive agency. The owners of the villa are most gracious and invited us to vist their vineyard and lovely home for a wine tasting and a light supper. The town is enchanting, a throwback to another time. We had dinner out every evening, all 15 of us, and did not have a single meal that was not outstanding. The cost was quite reasonable, for instance a cappacuino on the piazza was 1 euro as opposed to 4 in Rome. We had fun going to the corner market every evening to fill our bottles with wine for 1.29 euros. I regret that I did not book it for a 3rd week. It is the perfect place for a family reunion. I would have to reach for a negative. The only thing I would do differently would be to re-think the car situation. We did not need all 3 cars once we arrived but must have them for the trip to and from Rome. It was a longer ride than I thought. I am very torn with wanting to go back next year but also want to spend a week in Abruzzi and then maybe 2 weeks in a villa in the Gaeta, Sperlonga region but have concerns that we might have to drive everywhere. Being able to walk into town is a plus. I hope I have given you and overview of our experience. Many, many thanks and I look forward to working with you again in the very near future. Best Regards, Lillian"
