Lombardia is the region that lies in Northern Italy, between the river Po and the Alps. Over the millennia, the region of Lombardy has been conquered by the Etruscans, the Gauls, the Spaniards, Lombards and so on, each invader leaving its own mark.
The typical architecture is mainly Romanesque. However, the Gothic style is also evident as brought out in the alluring spectacle of the Cathedral of Milan.
