Villa Il Colto, standing at the top of a hill overlooking the town of Terranuova Bracciolini, dominates the surrounding panorama through 360 degrees and offers wonderful views of the valley. It is surrounded by cypresses and other tall trees, with centuries-old oaks and lebanese cedars, and the estate covers two hectares of farmland with olive trees and various kinds of fruit trees. The villa was probably already a nobleman's villa in Roman times, then becoming a look-out tower in the middle ages, before being transformed into a farmhouse around 1000 and eventually becoming part of the property of the Medici family in Florence. During the Second World War it was headquarters for the American allied forces. Following a careful restoration, led in person by Elena, one of the owners and an architect by profession, it has been transformed into an elegant and comfortable home, with great care taken right down to the fine details, keeping close to its Tuscan origins, but with a touch of flair giving it a refined yet warm atmosphere. The villa has all the modern conveniences one might need: heating, telephone, satellite-TV, stereo with CD player, 2 televisions with DVD player, studio with 2 computers and broadband internet connection, internet access point in all the bedrooms, air-conditioning and mosquito-netting in all the bedrooms and safe deposit-box. There is a large kitchen with a professional cooking surface in a central counter, 2 ovens, fridge and freezer, microwave oven, Italian and American coffee machines, toaster, blender, dishwasher and complete kitchen accessories. Outside the villa, with direct access from the living-room on the ground floor, is a sunbathing terrace facing the 4x8m swimming-pool, where guests can relax in peace and quiet surrounded by vegetation. There is a large veranda with direct access to the kitchen with a table and chairs for breakfast, aperitifs or dinner. Just a few minutes away by car are the nearby towns of Montevarchi and S. Giovanni Valdarno with shopping centers and outlets. Florence is 35 km away, Arezzo 30 km, Siena 40 km and the Chianti Classico area 20 kms. Both of the owners, Elena and Laura, speak English, and Elena lives in the barn next to the Villa, with an independent entrance from the courtyard of the villa.
