The hills around Lucca still preserve intact a large number of villas which, from the 1600s to the 1900s, were the country residences of the most affluent local bourgousie. Villa Pedone was built around the beginning of the 1800s and has been was completely renovated in the year 2002, with the aim of leaving all of the original architectural features intact, while bringing all the services and comforts up to modern standards. The villa lies about 7 kms from the centre of Lucca in a very panoramic and peaceful spot. It is surrounded by a beautiful italian garden where they have inserted a private 5x10 m swimming-pool in a way that is in perfect harmony with the prestige of the building. The furnishings consist of antique furniture which is well-suited to the general feel of the house. The villa is equipped with telephone, PC with internet connection, stereo with CD player, satellite-TV, dishwasher, laundry with washing-machine and drying-machine, heating. On request a cooking service can be provided for the evening meal, as well as baby-sitting. Villa Pedone is also a good starting-point for wonderful trips to the various parts of Tuscany: the beaches in Versilia are just 35 kms away, Florence can be comfortably reached in less than an hour by car, Pisa is about 30 kms away. In the hills around Lucca you can enjoy the excellent local cuisine in the many typical restaurants that you will find just about everywhere.
