Maratea is on the stretch of coast south of Campania, and is still unspoilt and extraordinarily beautiful. The views along the coast change frequently, in a constant procession of beaches, inlets, islets, rocks and grottoes, that have justly made this coastline famous for its beauty and for the crystal-clear water of the sea. Villa Mirasole is the result of the restoration and extension of an old 18thC farmhouse, which was the only building in the whole area up until the 1960s. Today the building lies in a residential area, in a quiet and privileged position with a beautiful view of the sea. The large, terraced fenced garden steps down amid olive, citrus and carob trees decorated with roses, bougainvillaea and wisteria, and in the centre a 5x12.5m swimming-pool has been built, for guests private use. Down a little path, closed by a gate, you can reach the beach below (about 200m on foot), used only by a few other people from the nearby villas and otherwise only accessible from the sea. The large terrace opens from the living-room and offers a beautiful panorama of the coast and is furnished for relaxation and for dining outside. The villa is furnished with country furniture from the beginning of the 1900s and is furnished with dishwasher, washing-machine, stereo with CD, telephone and TV. On request the domestics can also prepare an excellent local cuisine. The village of Maratea is made up of several different parts, and the oldest part, which is very attractive and has all the services you might need, is on top of the hill about 3 kms from the villa. The harbour and Fiumicello are about 1.5 kms away, and there you will find shops, very good restaurants, tennis courts, boat hire and a sub-aqua school.
