On the lower western slopes of Monte Albano, at 250 metres above sea level, lies Villa Anna. It is surrounded by an estate of over 7 hectacres of woods and olive groves and by the lovely green hills lining the valley called Valdinievole, a wonderful area between Pistoia and Lucca still untouched by mass tourism, hemmed in by the last hills coming down from the Apennine mountains, dotted with ancient medieval villages, castles, famous thermal springs, parks and areas full of interest for naturalists. The building goes back to the second half of the 1700s and consisted of two old farmer's houses, which during the renovation were transformed into a single building whilst keeping to the rules of bio-architecture, using strictly local building materials recovered from the area. Everything has been looked after right down to the fine details, along with antique furnishings and household objects, old doors, antique prints, persian rugs, all revealing the love of the owners for old objects from the local traditions: the result is a refined and yet family atmosphere, representing the most authentic tuscan welcome and style of living. Nothing has been left to chance as far as the comfort of their guests is concerned: independent air-conditioning in all the rooms, special Waterlily mattresses on all the beds, mosquito-netting on the windows, bio-switches in the electrical circuits, which mean that you can live here free of magnetic fields, hair-dryers in the bathrooms, satellite-TV and alarm system. The spotless panoramic garden, an oasis of peace and quiet, offers shady areas where you can sit or dine outside: a nice deck-level swimming-pool with its attractive lighting system lies on a natural terrace in the lower part of the garden, has hydromassage, an artificial current for swimming against, and an enchanting view of the green valley around the house. The owners live 30 metres from the villa, in a house with an independent entrance and garden and private pool: they are very discreet, yet available to help guests with anything they might need (such as organizing dinner, cooking or painting courses) and ready to recommend interesting excursions. In fact the villa is in a very good position for reaching in a short car ride all of the best places to see in Tuscany (Florence, Lucca, and Pisa can all be reached in less than an hour by car), not forgetting that the hot springs at Monsummano Terme are close, with its famous Grotta Giusti (an ancient thermal grotto with regenerating and cleansing properties, within a modern thermal centre). In the winter months only, Villa Anna can be divided into 2 separate living units.
