Going to Gubbio you sometimes get the impression that the town is having a party, as the local people have never lost the simple pleasure of getting together and having a good chat in an lovely artless fashion. The old town centre has almost entirely retained its medieval aspect, thanks to continuous restoration over time which means that today we can experience the harmony and beauty of times gone by. The apartment is in an ancient tower dating from around the year 1000, opposite the Palazzo dei Consoli, one of the most beautiful public buildings in Italy, and has two accesses, one internal and the other external. It is furnished with antique pieces and has all modern comforts: dishwasher, washing-machine, satellite-TV, stereo with CD-player. One of its main distinguishing characteristics is the presence of a terraced garden with a nice 5x3.5m swimming-pool, with an outside dining-area and the sunbathing terrace at the top of the tower, from which you can enjoy an extraordinary view. The access road to the building with the apartment is in a pedestrian area which comes out in the piazza opposite the Palazzo dei Consoli. It's a very pleasant street with many attractive local shops, bars and typical restaurants. The local cuisine is very highly thought of and don't forget that we are in an area well-known for its truffles. One of the most important local traditional festivals is the Corsa dei Ceri which happens every year on 15th May. Gubbio lies about 43 kms from Perugia and Assisi, 200 kms from Rome and 160 kms from Florence.
