The town of Taormina is situated 200 metres above sea level, overlooking the Ionian sea and dominating an immense panorama, embracing not only the highest volcano in Europe but also the large citrus plantations on the plain below. It enjoys an ideal climate which in winter rarely goes below 15 degrees celsius, while in the summer months it rarely goes above 28 degrees. Although the town is not right on the coast, the beaches below at Mazzarò, Isola Bella and Giardini Naxos are well connected and easily reached from the town centre. The I Merli tower stands about 200 metres from the access to the beach at Isola Bella, along the road coming down from Taormina, in a very panoramic position; and from the little living-room terrace, and especially from the large terrace at the top of the tower, you can enjoy a unique, spectacular view. All of the finishings of the house are of valuable materials (mosaics, marble, Vietri ceramics), and the tower also equipped with air-conditioning, television with satellite, dishwasher, oven, refridgerator, washing-machine. To go to Taormina we advise you to use the convenient cable-car, which starts just a few hundred metres from the tower, thus avoiding any parking problems. The inlet which stretches along the beach at Isola Bella is now a nature reserve, and ends at Capo Sant'Andrea; beyond this cape stretches the other famous beach at Mazzarò. In the town they have organized very high quality cultural events all year round, under the "Taormina Arte" logo. Particularly important is the cinema festival.
