Castello di Todi, one of the oldest castles in the area, lies close to Todi, which is about 7 kms away. The building stands in beautiful surroundings, on the top of a hill where you can enjoy the panorama of Todi and the rich green countryside around it, and there, in silence and surrounded by nature, your thoughts can wander back to ancient times past and to the inhabitants of the castello and how they might have lived. For a few years Guy Munthe, grandson of the famous writer Axel Munthe, chose it for his home; Princess Margeret was a guest here, and slept in the master bedroom. The castello is surrounded by a large italian garden, with an amphitheatre and a large pond with water-jets. The building, while preserving all of its original characteristics, has been completely renovated and filled with antique furniture, pictures and very high-quality household objects. In the garden a 5x10 swimming-pool has been installed for guests' private use. The castello is equipped a lift between the ground and second floors and has satellite-TV, stereo with CD player, telephone, internet connection, heating, dishwasher and washing-machine. The price includes a daily cleaning service and the preparation of breakfast. Nearby you will find several very attractive places full of interest to visit and Orvieto with its splendid cathedral is just 20 minutes away by car. Perugia is 45 kms away, Rome 135 kms. Don't forget to visit the typical local restaurants where you will find excellent local cuisine.
