Campiglia Marittima is one of most beautiful medieval towns on the Etruscan Coast, perched on a hill and dominating the sea and the surrounding countryside, at the heart of an area with age-old traditions, where you can find many traces of both the etruscan and roman civilizations and many attractive old villages. The old town centre, with roads and alleys arranged in concentric circles, is all grouped together inside the old walls. Castello di Campiglia stands at the edge, just 5 minutes from the old town centre, surrounded by grounds and shaded by a small ancient pine wood: it has undergone several structural changes during the centuries and is now on 5 different levels, leaning on the hill, and looking out onto the coast. All of the apartments in the castle (6), which has recently been completely renovated, have a spectacular 180° view of the sea and of the gulf, which extends from Punta Ala to the south as far as Piombino and Baratti to the north. The apartments being offered all have a private external area (terrace or patio) for dining and relaxing outside. A micro-pool, heated and covered, available for all guests, has been made in the lower part of the castle and opens out to a shared sunbathing area in the grounds. The two apartments we offer have been elegantly furnished with great style: they are equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen satellite-TV and hairdryer. They have used valuable materials, such as the black stone in the bathrooms and natural wood in the floors. The town of Campiglia offers a wide choice of quality shops (baker, butcher) and bars, restaurants, wine-shops, a post office and supermarket. The beautiful sandy beaches of the upper Maremma are just 10 minutes away by car, and you can easily reach all of the most interesting historical and art towns in Tuscany, such as San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa, Siena and Florence, not forgetting the marvellous islands in the tuscan archipelago, or Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, where some of the most famous "Supertuscan" wines are produced, and the 18-hole golf course at Punta Ala.
