This tower, now called Casalta, is built of white stone and in the XIIIth century it was a lookout tower for the Castello di Fornello, which is now just a ruin. Lying behind Fiesole at about 270 metres above sea level, it lies in the centre of an amphitheatre of terraces of centuries-old olive trees looking over the valley of the Arno river, and surrounded by oak woods, olive groves and vineyards. The surroundings are rich in cultural interest and Florence is close enough to be reached in about half-an-hour. Food shops can be found in the nearby village of Molino del Piano about 1km away, while Pontassieve, which has all the services you might need, lies about 7 kms away. The are many vineyards that can be visited in the area, producing Chianti Rufina wine. The property is in a very tranquil and relaxed spot, and consists of three apartments, all of which have independent entrances, and the third of which is inhabited by a resident family. The furnishings of the two available apartments are very comfortable and of good quality.
