The Cilento is an area of the Campania region south of Salerno with golden beaches and a hilly landscape rich in history. Baia Dorata (Golden Bay) owes its name to its location: it stands right next to the sandy beach in S.M. di Castellabate. The property consists of an old manor house converted into a villa, recently renovated and occasionally occupied by the owners; of a haybarn transformed into a shared area and furnished with a convenient kitchen with barbecue area; and of a large annex (about 200 sq.m.) where there are two apartments which we are offering to our guests. The property is surrounded by a well-maintained garden where there is a sauna and shared hydromassage tub, and by an attractive, well-maintained vineyard, run by the family for generations; but what makes this property so special is its position right on the Santa Maria beach. The apartments have been furnished with taste, are comfortable and full of light; both are on the ground floor and both have their own separate outside area. The sandy beach is just beyond the garden fence - perfect for those who like the sea as close as possible. For sightseeing we can recommend the temples at Paestum, which are just 18 kms away, the Cilento nature reserve, and the old monastery at Padula, about 100 kms away. Naples airport is about 140 kms away.
