Ortigia in ancient times was a Greek island connected via three bridges to the city of Syracuse. Right in the heart of Ortigia, in the old town center, between the splendid Arethusa fountain and the shore at Maniace, a summer bathing resort, lies this house. With little effort, just meandering through the little streets, you can admire the Greek temples, antique treasures in the old town center, along with the sea with its spectacular sunsets which Goethe considered the most beautiful in the world, the little unexpected courtyards covered in greenery, the wonderful haughty baroque balconies, the serious classic facades of the 19th century. The apartments lie in an old 19th century building, recently renovated, and lying close to the Cathedral, which with its splendid piazza is a magnet for meetings, shows and concerts, and also close to the famous Arethusa fountain, the symbol of the town, where papyrus reeds grow wild in the pond, and also close to the Maniace castle. Typical local trattorias, restaurants, bars and bakers surround the building giving guests who stay here a multitude of choices. The sea is just 50 meters from the building and in the summer they build wooden piles to facilitate entering into the water. From the beginning of May until July they hold the Ortigia festival, with theater, music, dancing and visual arts.

First Floor: large and elegant single room apartment, with a balcony with a view of the sea just 50 metres away. It is furnished with sicilian pieces and supplied with typical sicilian linen. The ceiling has wooden beams. Besides the large entrance is the kitchen, the living-room, the bedroom and the bathroom with shower and hairdryer. The kitchen is well-stocked with kitchenware, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, electric hobs, fridge and classic table linen. The living-room also has a sofa-bed, giving two more bed possibilities.

SIS012 - Fate - 40 m² - Sleeps 2 - 1 bedroom

Floor Between The First And Second Floor: consisting of a kitchen/living-room, bedroom, bathroom with shower and hairdryer, terrace. The kitchen and the dining area are under a typical 18th century arch, looking onto an old pond for rainwater, with an illuminated niche; it has ample kitchenware with electric hobs, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, fridge. A masonry staircase leads to the bedroom, with window overlooking the old roofs of Ortigia and the courtyard below. The furnishings are sicilian. An attractive wooden stair leads to the terrace, which has a nice view of Ortigia; the terrace has been made comfortable with a living area with a large sunshade, table and reading chairs. Thus in the evenings you can enjoy the pleasant sea breeze and in the mornings it becomes a pleasant sun terrace.

SIS013 - Zagara - 50 m² - Sleeps 2+2 - 1 bedroom

Floor Between The First And Second Floor: two room apartment called "Profumo di Zagara" ("Perfume of Orange Blossom") because from its balcony you can take in the lovely smell of the magnificent orange tree in the courtyard when it's in flower. It consists of a living-room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom with shower and hairdryer. The ceilings have wooden beams and two delightful balconies bring light to the interior and allow a pleasant view of the rooftops of Ortigia and of the internal courtyard below. The living-room has a cheerful kitchen, with every convenience; and a sofa bed for two gives two further sleeping possibilities.
